Use these equations and approximations to figure out how much material you are going to need!
Equations
Cubic Yard = 27 cubic feet
One ton = 18 cubic feet
One ton covers approx. 100 sq. ft. @ 2 inches deep
1.5 ton = One cubic yard (27 cubic feet)
Sq. ft. = L x W
L x W / 100 = How many tons you need for a 3/4 size stone
Area triangle 90 degrees = 1/2 x L x W
Volume = L x W x H
Volume Pond = L x W X D = ft 3 x 7.47 = gallons
Stone, Sand, & Gravel Approximations
1 ton covers approx. 100 sq. ft. @ 1.5 - 2 inches thick of 3/8, 3/4, 1 1/2 - 1/2 size stone
1 ton covers approx. 80 sq. ft. of 1-3"
1 ton covers approx. 70 sq. ft. of 2-4"
1 ton covers approx. 60 sq. ft. of 3-5"
1 ton covers approx. 50 sq. ft. of 5-8"
1 ton covers approx. 80 sq. ft. of crusher run and stone dust 2" deep
1 ton covers approx. 50 sq. ft. of 12 minus rip rap
1 ton covers approx. 120 sq. ft. of Autumn blend
1 ton covers approx. 125 sq. ft. of sand @ 1" thick
Mulch, Topsoil, & Other Approximations
1 yard of topsoil covers approx. 100 sq. ft. @ 3" deep (3,000 lbs. approx.)
1 yard of mulch covers approx. 100 sq. ft. @ 3" deep
1 ton of Clam Shells covers approx. 100 sq. ft. @ 2" thick
1 bale of Pine Needles covers approx. 50-60 sq. ft. @ 2-3" thick
3x3x3 = 1 ton for every 3/4 stone trench
